Rosemary is a woody, perennial plant native to the Mediterranean and is cultivated worldwide. It originally grows wild on dry, rocky slopes near the sea. Its name is derived from the Latin ros marinus, meaning “sea dew”. In the fourteenth century, Queen Isabella of Hungary applied extracts of Rosemary to treat gout. In Egypt Rosemary was buried with the pharaohs. It was also burned in hospitals as a disinfectant and purifier, to ward off the plague.

Usage and Recipes
To Boost Energy Level
An Aroma Inhaler is a handy way to use Rosemary essential oil for energy and focus boost. You could also put a few drops on a hankie and leave it on your desk or near where you’re working.
Along those lines: Studies have shown that Rosemary essential oil enhances memory and brain function. Use as suggested above or dab a little diluted oil on the inside of your wrist before going to class/work for a big test or if you have a big decision to make.
Pain Relief
To remedy pain and muscle stiffness, mix 100 to 120ml of a carrier oil, 4 drops Rosemary oil, 4 drops Lavender oil, 3 drops Basil oil and 2 drops Ginger oil. Massage into sore muscles or use a few drops in a hot bath to relieve the tension.
Healthy Hair
Rosemary essential oil will help you get rid of dandruff, help to slow hair loss and thicken hair. To treat thinning hair, mix 100 to 120ml of Jojoba oil, 10 drops of Rosemary oil, 10 drops Lavender oil and 5 drops Clary Sage oil. Massage a few drops of this mixture into your scalp daily. If you have oily hair and skin, you can use less oil or do it only once or twice a week.
Natural Acne Remedy
Since Rosemary essential oil is antiseptic, it is a great natural acne remedy:
Mix 30ml of Jojoba oil with 5 drops of Rosemary oil, 5 drops Tea Tree oil, 5 drops Lavender and 3 drops of Lemon. Use this as a spot treatment to relieve and heal blemishes. For a good mask, add 30 grams of honey to a couple drops each of Rosemary and Lavender oils. Mix well and smooth onto your face. Relax for 10-30 minutes. Rinse well with warm water. Not only will it help you get rid of your pimples, but this mask will also make you feel like you’ve had a day spa!
Natural Deodorant
Given its antifungal and antibacterial properties, Rosemary essential oil makes a great deodorant.
Sample recipe for a spray: Mix 120ml of apple cider vinegar, 2 teaspoons grain alcohol, 10 drops of Rosemary oil, 10 drops of Lavender oil, 6 drops of Sandalwood oil, 6 drops of Lemon oil and two cups of distilled water in a spray bottle. You could also use a few drops of this mixture in a foot bath to soothe and deodorize tired feet.
