Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil is regarded by some as the ‘ultimate’ eucalyptus oil due to its numerous beneficial properties and prominent aroma. This essential oil is milder than the stronger Eucalyptus Globulus or Citriodora and is less likely to trigger a cough reflex when breathed in from a diffuser. For that reason, it’s the perfect Eucalyptus choice for respiratory infections. It’s also useful in sinusitis, fatigue and sluggishness, muscle aches, insect bites, acne, and skin rashes.
Eucalyptus Radiata is native to and almost exclusively grown today around the southern parts of New South Wales, Australia. It is a refreshing and rare variety of Eucalyptus oil, also colloquially known as “Narrow-leaved Peppermint”, “Fourth River Peppermint”, and “Black Peppermint”.
Aromatherapists have long-held Eucalyptus Radiata in high regard as it tends to be ‘softer’ thus more appropriate for the elderly and children than the more common Globulus or the high-cineole Blue Mallee.
A potential substitute for synthetic antioxidants, Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil is also a healthy addition to cosmetic preparations, personal care formulations, soaps, and toiletries.

Precautions
- Eucalyptus Radiata is high in 1,8-cineole. Essential oils high in 1,8-cineole can cause CNS and breathing problems in young children. Do not apply to or near the face of infants or children under ten years of age.
- Maximum dermal use: 20%.
- Do not use Eucalyptus Blue Mallee essential oil if pregnant or lactating – the high cineole content can be toxic to the fetus and infants.
- Avoid the contact of oil with eyes, sensitive and inner parts of the body.
- Keep away from children.
